1I started out Djing in the bedroom with a pair of belt drive ‘Soundlab’ turntables back in the 1990’s . They needed the human touch to ever stay in time when mixing, just a gentle stroke around the centre of the track playing. I always felt this gave me a good edge when using decent equipment and at any house parties we had back then, not many Dj friends could get mixes to sound good with my decks. The technology has come a long long way since then and I have more recently moved on to Native Instrument controllers using Traktor software. My music has always been a big deal though and even with a long break from the DJ circuit, I have always been into a diverse selection of music. I’m mostly into Electronica/House music and was inspired years ago by the ‘west coast’ inspired tracks coming out from the likes of Joeski and Onions, Mark Farina and Chus and Ceballos, etc. At the time any kind of dance music with a bit of funk, but I was definitely not a funky house music fan. Music that’s generally a bit deeper, Tech house, Techno, bits of Drum and Bass and Hip Hop. Outside of DJing I’m into quite melancholy music, from female folk artists like ‘Emmy the great’, to downtempo electronica from ‘James Blake’.
2 Having spent considerable amount of time back in Newcastle Upon Tyne, after University I secured a few residencies around the Toons nightlife. My main long term residency was back at Ponana’s (now Tokyo). I played the Sunday night weekend wind down slot, also quite a lot of other party events at the chain. We held nights at Bar M, Egypt Cottage and Legends, also the occasional club nights at foundation nightclub and the legendary Rockshots. After moving back to my home town in Liverpool, I secured quite a few gig’s with my also Djing and producing brother at BabyCream, Geisha, Blue bar and grill, The Magnet and Largos. Now I’m based in Dubai and available to provide music for any private boat/villa parties, corporate events and private hire, as well as across the UAE’s constantly busy nightlife scene.
